Ram is targeting the growing recreational vehicle crowd by changing a color option on its successful Laramie Longhorn trim level. White Gold — which was not a big seller — will be replaced by a two-tone brown stripe that will wrap the pickup truck's lower panel, go around the fender flares and continue to each bumper. Called RV Match Brown, it can be ordered with any of the Laramie Longhorn's nine available colors.
RV Match Brown will be available on 1500, 2500 and 3500 Rams, and complements the trim's chrome grille and painted tow hooks. Half-ton Laramie Longhorns are equipped with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with color-matched (brown) inserts, while the 2500/3500 models have 18-inch polished wheels with 20-inch wheels as an option on single-rear-wheel pickups.
"After looking at the RV market for a while, we wanted to find a way of giving those buyers something special … there's nothing like seeing a color-matching truck and trailer going down the road," said Jim Morrison, head of Ram. "A lot camper trailer manufacturers are using browns and tans in their graphics packages, so we wanted to trying something special to partner along."
Monochromatic Laramie models will continue to offer Bright Silver two-tone contrast, but for 2017 they also will be offered with the two-tone RV Match Brown. Non-two-tone paint will remain standard on Laramie models. RV Match Brown will be available this summer.
