CARS.COM — The latest page in the book of Genesis, Hyundai’s growing luxury spinoff brand, finds its G80 sedan getting a performance-oriented makeover both under the hood and on the surface. The 2018 G80 3.3T Sport, bowing now at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, is named for its twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6, newly acquired from its larger G90 sibling.
While exterior styling changes are subtle, Genesis didn’t seem to have an invisible touch when translating the G80 3.3T’s sportier performance visually. A more aggressive front bumper, lower sill and rear designs, along with a dark-chrome cross-hatch grille, dark-alloy 19-inch wheels and dark satin trim distinguish the Sport from its more laid-back other self. The cabin tips its hand to the track, meanwhile, with sport pedals and steering wheel, bolstered sport seats with contrast stitching and genuine carbon-fiber trim.
Does the 3.3T Sport go far enough in expressing its wilder side? Check out the photo gallery below and decide for yourself.
