CARS.COM — Subaru redesigned its Impreza compact for 2017, so it’s no surprise that the related Crosstrek subcompact SUV will get a similar treatment. Subaru announced today that an “all-new” 2018 Crosstrek will make its world bow at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland.

The biggest cosmetic updates to this beefed-up version of the Impreza hatchback over the past five years came in 2016, when it got a new bumper, grille and headlights, along with a blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert. That was the year after it dropped the XV from in front of the Crosstrek in its name. The 2017 model year dumped the hybrid version but added a new $2,300 Special Edition appearance package for Premium models.

Whether the Geneva show brings revolutionary or merely evolutionary changes to the Crosstrek remains to be seen. The shadowy teaser image shows a profile of what appears remarkably similar to the 2017 model, if perhaps slightly edgier and sleeker looking.

No pricing or dealership arrival info was yet available for the Crosstrek, whose current model starts at $22,570, including an $875 destination charge. We’ll bring you more info as we learn about it during the Geneva show in March.
