Vehicles Affected: Approximately 8,200 model-year 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs
The Problem: The side curtain airbag mounting bolts may interfere with and damage the airbags during deployment, which could lead to them not inflating properly, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will install a protective cover over the side curtain airbag installation bolts for free.
What Owners Should Do: Hyundai will begin notifying owners Nov. 30. Owners can call the automaker at 855-371-9460, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
