2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Video Review

CARS.COM — Mercedes-Benz set a style precedent with its swoopy, coupelike sedan, and now the CLS is being redesigned for the second time with updates that enhance its premium look both inside and out. The 2019 model made its debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show with smoother, more streamlined styling outside and a cleaner, simplified look inside.

The CLS’s interior should look familiar if you’ve seen the 2018 S-Class. Like Mercedes’ flagship, front and center in the CLS is a giant screen that spans the dash, but it’s actually two separate screens that house a pair of 12.3-inch displays that sit within a recessed dome.

Its powertrain has also been modernized this year. Under the hood for 2019 is an all-new 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that puts out 362 horsepower, in addition to a 21-hp boost from the integrated electric starter-generator motor and lithium-ion battery. The setup pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission; rear- and all-wheel drive are offered.

The 2019 CLS goes on sale next fall. Watch the video for more.
