2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,400 model-year 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback cars
The Problem: There’s a possibility the torque converter in the continously variable automatic transmission could fail, which under certain conditions could result in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the direct-shift CVT with a new one containing a new torque converter for free.
What Owners Should Do: Toyota is currently obtaining parts and will begin notifying owners by first-class mail starting in mid-February 2019. Owners can call the automaker at 800-331-4331, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
