2020 Jeep Gladiator Altitude: Not the High Altitude, Just the Regular Kind

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is under the impression that you folks like the murdered-out look on your pickup trucks and is responding by bringing another blacked-out package into the fold. The recipient this time is the 2020 Jeep Gladiator with the Altitude Edition, which brings a blacked-out look to the popular mid-size Wrangler-based Jeep pickup, joining the trucks at Ram. Don’t be confused because this is not the Gladiator’s High Altitude special-edition model, which turns all the trim body-color and adds big wheels for an urban luxury look on the Gladiator (and Wrangler). No, this is just apparently a slightly lower altitude, not one that requires oxygen to swallow the price like the High Altitude does.

What’s it got? The Gladiator Altitude starts with a modest Sport S trim and adds some dark accents to the exterior such as a body-color grille with Dark Gray accents, body-color fender flares, black Jeep and Trail Rated badges, and 18-inch Granite Crystal wheels wrapped with 255/70R18 Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrain tires. Covering it all is a standard black Freedom Top three-piece hardtop, but the dual-top package that also includes a soft-top is an option. Your color options for the ’20 Gladiator Altitude include black, white, Firecracker Red, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Hydro Blue, Gator (green) and Gobi (beige).

The interior gets minimal spiffs, keeping the standard black cloth seats and adding black stitching to the leather-wrapped steering wheel that comes with the Sport S, along with a Wizard Black instrument panel and mid-bolster accents.

New Jeep Gladiators for Sale

“Our Jeep Gladiator Altitude model is a direct response to customers who ask for a ‘blacked-out’ look directly from the factory. The Jeep Altitude models continue to resonate with customers and adding Gladiator completes this lineup,” said Jim Morrison, head of Jeep brand, in a statement from the company.

The new model will feature a starting price of $41,835 (all prices include a destination fee), a $3,595 jump from the standard starting price of $38,240 for a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport S. The Freedom Top option is already a $1,295 option on the Sport S, meaning the body-colored fenders, grille, larger 18-inch dark wheels, upgraded tires and different interior trim comprises the remaining $2,300 worth of content, which is not an outrageous proposition.
