The Audi Q7 is a smooth and sophisticated mid-size luxury SUV with three rows of seating, a long roster of comfort and tech features, and standard all-wheel drive. For the 2023 and ‘24 model years, the Q7 is also now being recognized as an even safer SUV thanks to its recent Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The award applies to 2023 Q7s built after January 2023, as well as all 2024 models. To earn a Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front and updated side tests, and acceptable or good headlights must be standard across all trim levels. Additionally, the vehicle’s front crash prevention system must earn advanced or superior ratings in both the daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.

Previously, variants of the Q7’s headlights were given a poor rating by IIHS due primarily to excessive glare. Audi has made improvements to all of the luxury SUV’s available headlights’ aim to resolve the issue. As a result, the range-topping Q7 55 Prestige trim earns a rating of good, the highest possible score, thanks to its matrix-design LED headlights. The headlights for the Q7’s two other trim levels each earn an acceptable rating. Those scores are combined with top marks in all of the agency’s crash-test scenarios, along with superior and advanced ratings for the Q7’s crash-avoidance and mitigation technology.

In addition to its improved headlights, other changes to the 2024 Q7 lineup include the standard fitment of adaptive cruise control and remote start to all trims.
