2023 Toyota Sequoia Priced From $59,795, Adds Standard Hybrid Power

When the 2023 Toyota Sequoia goes on sale in late summer, the redesigned three-row SUV will start at $59,795 (all prices include a $1,495 destination charge) for the entry level Sequoia SR5 rear-wheel-drive SUV. From there, the Sequoia has Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro and Capstone trims available, with the Capstone approaching $80,000 with four-wheel drive. Your first reaction might be sticker shock considering the $8,000 jump from the 2022’s $51,765 starting price, but the outgoing Sequoia was heavily dated, and the 2023 isn’t out of line among competing full-size three-row SUVs including the Ford Expedition and Jeep Wagoneer, though it’s priced more than the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Nissan Armada.

For 2023, the Sequoia gains a standard hybrid powertrain making 437 horsepower and 583 pounds-feet of torque — output more similar to upgraded engines from some competitors, also making that $60,000 starting price more digestible. On paper, the rear-drive Sequoia SR5 has notable towing capacity with a maximum 9,520 pounds, according to SAE J2807 methodology; a 1,730-pound payload capacity for that version is equally impressive. Opting for 4WD, which decreases maximum payload and towing capacity in each configuration, adds $3,000 to the starting price of each trim level except the TRD Pro, where it comes standard.

What we don’t know yet is fuel economy. Toyota expects the Sequoia’s mileage to be top of the class, but we’ll have to wait until closer to the SUV’s on-sale date to find out.
