The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is the brand’s first fully electric SUV for the U.S. market, delivering 600 horsepower and 617 pounds-feet of instantly available torque in a sleek, modern package. While the company has finally conceded that yes, the formerly non-Jeep-badged Wagoneers are still Jeeps, this electric vehicle is still clearly part of that nameplate’s upmarket push, featuring a Porsche Taycan-esque passenger-side infotainment touchscreen and a luxe interior complete with ventilated rear seats.

Styling
The new Wagoneer S is a clear departure from the chunky, Hummer H2-ish gas-powered Wagoneers, with a more streamlined body and cool futuristic details that bring this Jeep into the future. A more aerodynamic, sloped rear roofline is disguised behind a rear wing that keeps a more squared-off, Jeep-like side profile. Flush door handles, integrated fins, underbody shields, unique side sills and front tire spats help make the SUV more aerodynamically efficient and add up to the lowest drag coefficient of any Jeep to date: 0.29.
The Wagoneer S Launch Edition is the first trim to come out and features a seven-slot enclosed grille that lights up as you approach the vehicle, black and gray accents, a dual-pane panoramic moonroof and 20-inch gloss-black wheels. Additional satin-painted accents round out the Launch Edition’s chrome-free look.
Upmarket Performance, Too
Dual electric motors combined with a 400-volt, 100-kilowatt-hour battery give the Jeep Wagoneer S some impressive stats: 600 hp, 617 pounds-feet of torque, over 300 miles of range (per Jeep’s estimate) and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. Try that last one in your buddy’s Wrangler, I dare you.
The Wagoneer S rides on Jeep parent company Stellantis’ new dedicated platform for electric vehicles. It features one electric drive module per axle, which combines an electric motor, gearing and power electronics in one unit. The front drive module can disconnect when the vehicle is just cruising on the road, thus reducing energy consumption and increasing range. Because it’s still a Jeep, the Wagoneer S also includes some features that help it off the pavement, such as four-wheel drive. Its Selec-Terrain traction management system optimizes the front-to-rear torque split and other settings for five different driving styles and conditions: Sand, Snow, Eco, Sport and Auto.
Jeep claims its battery is capable of charging from 20% to 80% in just 23 minutes on a DC fast charger. Owners can choose between receiving a 48-amp Level 2 home charger or public charging credits through Stellantis’ Free2move Charge EV charging network. Wagoneer S buyers will have access to the Free2move Charge app that lets them find charging stations, look up charging history and start charging sessions. Jeep Connect services in the Jeep app also lets drivers access vehicle information, including its state of charge and navigation data that includes how long the SUV can travel before needing to charge up.

Yo Dawg, Jeep Heard You Like Screens
The Wagoneer S’ dashboard features a combined 45 inches of high-definition interactive screen space, making it one of the most screen-heavy EVs on the market. The front passenger gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen that runs on the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, allowing them to input navigation directions while the SUV is moving. A 12.3-inch primary touchscreen sits in the middle of the dashboard, which thankfully still includes volume and tuning buttons next to it, and another 12.3-inch instrument display sits in front of the driver. Unfortunately, some of the cabin’s controls are touch-sensitive, which can be harder to use without taking your eyes off the road, though their haptic feedback should help a bit.
Screens aren’t the only high-end tech feature in the Wagoneer S, as the electric SUV also comes with a 1,200-watt, 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, complete with a 12-inch subwoofer. The Wagoneer S is also capable of receiving over-the-air updates that can add or fix the SUV’s various features.
While Jeeps generally have a reputation of being tough ‘n’ dirty, the Wagoneers aim for a more luxurious experience. Jeep even went so far as to stiffen the body torsion by 35% on the Wagoneer S compared to the brand’s previous mid-size SUVs in order to reduce road noise and vibration levels. (Of course, a stiffer body should also translate into an SUV that’s better suited for popping a wheel in the air on a trail without any drama. We know you too well, Jeep.)
The five-seat Launch Edition comes standard with heated and ventilated seats in both rows, plus 12-way power memory front seats with four-way adjustable lumbar support and massage. The seats, door panels, center console and instrument panel are wrapped in synthetic leather. Jeep says its use of synthetic leather and lack of chrome along with carpets that use recycled materials are an intentional effort to use more environmentally friendly materials. Metal accents and a microfiber suede headliner further increase the luxe feel inside.
The Wagoneer S also features a new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel design with wine-red stitching as well as antimicrobial Cabo vinyl surface coating, which Jeep claims is easier to clean. Customizable LED lighting with different settings for daytime and nighttime and ambient lighting with up to 64 color choices add even more bling to the Wagoneer S.
As far as safety features and driver assists go, the Launch Edition includes many of the most popular ones as standard, including Jeep’s hands-free driving assist system, blind spot monitoring, drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, intersection collision avoidance, forward collision warning, autonomous parking assist, a 10-inch head-up display and a 360-degree camera system. A towing package is optional, with a maximum tow capacity of 3,400 pounds.
