2024 Kia EV9: Its First Fully Electric 3-Row SUV Starts at $54,990
The 2024 EV9 is Kia’s first electrified mid-size SUV with three rows of seating. At nearly the same height and width of Kia’s popular gas-powered Telluride, the EV9 will have a starting price of $54,990 when it goes on sale late in 2023, making it eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit.

The recently announced base price excludes the destination fee, which is not yet available, according to Kia. Considering the 2024 Telluride has a $1,365 destination charge attached to it, the EV9 may have a similar figure applied. Kia has also not mentioned prices for any EV9 trims other than the base Light.
The EV9 will offer a total of four trims: Light, Wind, Land and GT-Line. Buyers will have a choice of two battery packs, along with front- or all-wheel drive. Standard is a 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery and a single electric motor that sends 215 horsepower to the rear wheels. Adding the higher capacity 99.8-kWh battery boosts range, though output drops to 201 hp for the Light Long Range variant. This larger battery can also be had with dual electric motors for AWD; this powertrain makes a total of 379 hp and 576 pounds-feet of torque, and it could be the one to pick if strong acceleration and passing power is a priority.
There are not yet any EPA-estimated range figures for the EV9, though Kia has stated it’s aiming for a maximum of 300 miles (with RWD and the larger battery). Every EV9 comes with 800-volt architecture and an 11-kilowatt charger that allows for speedier DC fast-charging times. According to Kia, the EV9 can recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
The cabin of the EV9 comes with dual 12.3-inch screens spanning the upper part of the dashboard, and between the digital gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen is a panel dedicated solely to adjusting heating and cooling. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is wireless device charging. Another clever tech item is the latest version of Kia’s Digital Key, which allows an EV9 owner to not only use their smartphone as a key, but also transfer the “key” to someone else via text messaging.
Safety equipment is impressive, and standard driver aids include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure steering assist and adaptive cruise control. Kia’s Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, which allows owners to park while outside the vehicle via the remote key, is available on the Land trim and standard on the GT-Line.
Wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches, the latter of which is standard on the GT-Line. The Land and GT-Line trims also feature the futuristic Digital Pattern Lighting Grille used on the EV9 concept vehicle.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2024 EV9 goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2023. The Light trim level starts at $54,990, but pricing for the Light Long Range, Wind, Land, and GT-Line will be announced closer to the SUV’s official arrival date, according to Kia.
