2025 Ford Mustang Gets Minor Tweaks, Starts From $33,515
Following a thorough revamp that launched the Mustang’s seventh generation for the 2024 model year, Ford is making only minor tweaks to the pony car for 2025. There’s a new color called Intense Lime Yellow, all Mustangs now feature the darkened headlights of the Nite Pony Package and bronze wheels are newly available on the 500-horsepower Dark Horse. Additionally, Ford is expanding availability of the factory-installed matte-finish paint-protectant film it introduced for 2024 on the Mustang coupe, now offering it on the convertible, as well. While the Mustang’s base price doesn’t increase from 2024, shoppers wanting the Mustang GT’s signature V-8 will have to — ahem — pony up an additional $3,700, and the Dark Horse is $3,745 more expensive.

Powertrain Specs and MPG
Mustang buyers can choose from either a turbocharged four-cylinder or a V-8 engine, the latter in two states of tune. EcoBoost Mustangs are powered by a 2.3-liter turbo four making 315 hp and 350 pounds-feet of torque. The Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter V-8 generates 480 hp and 415 pounds-feet, while the Dark Horse cranks the V-8 up to 500 hp and 418 pounds-feet. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, and a six-speed manual is available for no additional cost on the GT and $300 on the Dark Horse.
Though official EPA figures are not yet available for the 2025 model, the 2024 Mustang with the EcoBoost four-cylinder returns an EPA-rated 22/33/26 mpg city/highway/combined in standard form or 21/29/24 mpg with the Performance Package, which includes shorter rear-end gearing for quicker acceleration. The automatic GT is rated at 16/24/19 mpg and 15/24/18 with the Performance pack; with the manual transmission, it returns 15/23/18 mpg and 14/23/17 with the Performance treatment. The Dark Horse is itself a performance package and gets 14/22/17 mpg with either transmission.

Other than their engines, the Mustang EcoBoost and GT are similarly equipped. Both feature LED headlights and sequential LED taillights, keyless entry and starting, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and six speakers. Major differences between the two include their standard wheel sizes (17 inches for the EcoBoost and 18s for the GT) and the EcoBoost’s cloth upholstery versus the GT’s synthetic leather.
The Premium Package is also similar between the two, upgrading the EcoBoost to synthetic leather and adding Mustang-logo puddle lamps, welcome and walk-away lighting, and remote start. Inside, Premium-equipped cars gain power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, upgraded trim, ambient lighting, aluminum pedals and a nine-speaker sound system.
In addition to its more powerful engine, the Dark Horse rides on an upgraded suspension with MagneRide adaptive dampers and larger brakes tucked inside 19-inch wheels. It gets unique front and rear bumpers and a standard spoiler, as well as an active performance exhaust and a strut-tower brace. Heated (but not ventilated) front seats are standard, as are the pony puddle lamps and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
