2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Backcountry Toughens Up Sahara’s Looks

The Jeep Wrangler is like Mr. Potato Head: a basic form onto which buyers can stick all manner of upgrades and accessories. Jeep’s trim level catalog provides some curated builds with different focuses and various levels of capability, but it also limits what pieces can be jabbed into your potato. If, for example, you want a front locker because a locking rear differential isn’t enough, you’ll need to shell out for the Rubicon. The new 2025 Wrangler 4xe Backcountry gives buyers a sort of in-between choice, blending elements of a few different trim levels.

What Comes On the Wrangler 4xe Backcountry?

Based on the comfort-oriented Sahara trim, the new Backcountry trades out the standard all-season tires for the 32-inch General Grabber all-terrains from the pricy 4xe High Altitude trim; they are mounted on satin-black 20-inch wheels. Jeep also fits the steel bumpers from the harder-core Rubicon variants onto the Backcountry and adds topographic-map decals on the hood, fenders and rear swing gate that definitely do not show Jeep’s infamously flat hometown of Toledo, Ohio.

The rest of the Backcountry’s upgrades are available as options on the Sahara: a three-piece body-color hardtop, rock rails to protect the rocker panels and lower doors during off-roading, the Trailer Tow Package (which includes a front-facing camera for navigating tricky trail stretches and auxiliary switches for powering accessories) and the Technology Group (navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system and Jeep’s Power Box, which is a group of four 120-volt outlets).

Availability and Pricing

Jeep is limiting the 2025 Wrangler 4xe Backcountry to 5,800 units, with prices starting at $66,185 (including a $1,895 destination charge). A comparably equipped Sahara would go for $65,895, meaning buyers get the tougher tires and heavy-duty bumpers for just $290. Jeep is taking orders for the Backcountry now.
