For the third time in less than a year, Ford’s bestselling F-150 pickup truck is under a sizable recall for failing front windshield wipers. The issue stems from damage to the windshield wiper motor circuit board.

Affected vehicles include more than 453,600 model-year 2021-22 F-150s. Damage to the circuit board is a result of high transient voltage spikes and poor-quality wiper motor electrical terminals. Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce or eliminate visibility in certain weather conditions, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.
To resolve the problem, dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor for free. Ford will begin notifying owners Jan. 3, 2023; those with further questions in the meantime can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22V-142), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
