Vehicles Affected: Approximately 147,200 model-year 2013-15 Mercedes-Benz E350 sedans and 4matic sedans, E350 4matic wagons, E400 Hybrid sedans, CLS550 CGI sedans and CLS550 4matic sedans; model-year 2013-14 E550 4matic sedans; model-year 2013 E63 sedans and wagons, and CLS63 sedans; model-year 2014-15 CLS63 4matic sedans, and E63 4matic sedans and wagons, and E63 4matic S sedans; model-year 2015 CLS400 sedans, E400 sedans and 4matic sedans, and CLS400 4matic sedans; and model-year 2014 CLS63 S sedans

The Problem: In the affected vehicles a rubber seal at the back of the engine bay may temporarily stick to the hood when it is opened and then fall into the engine bay when the hood is closed. If the rubber seal falls into the engine compartment, it might come into contact with the exhaust system, increasing the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Starting in mid-March, Mercedes will notify owners and dealers will attach four additional retaining clips to the rubber seal free of charge.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Mercedes at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236.
