- Looks like: A small, sporty take on green power
- Defining characteristics: Two electric motors, lightweight
- Ridiculous features: Headlights that adapt to weather conditions
- Chance of being mass-produced: Not good
Audi debuted another e-tron concept — making a Google search for this one all but impossible — last year based on the R8 luxury sports car, but this e-tron is smaller. Much smaller. It’s actually smaller than Audi’s TT coupe.
It packs a different electric powertrain. This time two electric motors combine to produce around 204 horsepower and a ridiculously huge amount of torque at 1,954 pounds-feet, which doesn’t really translate to real-world torque, for a zero-to-62 time of 5.9 seconds.
The lithium-ion batteries sit behind the passenger compartment, and the two electric motors are actually fixed to the rear axle, which leads to a 40/60 weight distribution. The e-tron should be quite the curve carver; it’s just that after a couple runs on the track you’d need to plug it in before heading home.
We also like its looks. If this was just a concept car with the potential to replace the slow-selling TT and its old-world gas engines, we’d be happy.
