CARS.COM — The AudiQ8 concept is no longer merely a collection of sketches but a tangible concept car appearing at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. The large grille establishes the aggressiveness of the concept. Seemingly inspired by famous movie villains, the grille features six vertical bars — two fewer than Bane’s mask but twice the number on Hannibal Lecter’s. In profile, the lines of the concept all move vertically toward the rear, conveying the gas-electric hybrid’s athleticism. The rear features Audi’s signature e-tron single-bar taillights and a large rear spoiler.
The cabin focuses on neatness and clean lines by using touchscreen features wherever possible to eliminate physical switches and buttons. Aside from numerous touch displays, the Q8 concept features an updated version of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit technology on a 12.3-inch TFT display. A head-up display doesn’t simply display things in a small area just below the driver’s line of sight; Audi claims navigation arrows, for example, will appear in the same location as actual arrows on the road.
