  • Looks like: Audi could make a sexier TT
  • Defining characteristics: Uh … does anyone else see the hood scoop, or are we crazy?
  • Ridiculous features: Blistering 3.8-second 0-60 mph time
  • Chance of being mass-produced: There’s a strong possibility this could be a design shared with a future Audi model

This concept was developed in homage to Audi’s rally racing. That’s where heavily outfitted production cars take to off- or gravel-road courses around the countryside with fans lining the course just feet away from the cars traveling at high speeds.

The Audi Quattro Concept, however, looks much more in line for the street and is based on the A5 platform, but it’s much shorter. Powering it is a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder that’s good for 408 horsepower. That’s an engine not in use in any current Audi.

We do see a lot of design elements up front that are borrowed from the R8 supercar, but the B-pillars remind us of the Cadillac CTS coupe and even the redesigned Scion tC. Add the slim hood scoop and silver spoiler and you have some odd choices if this were meant for production.

However, the Audi TT is struggling in the sales department, and if the Quattro Concept lost the frivolous bits, we could see it being a perfect replacement.
