Better Than an Apple: Mazda Offers Teachers Free Service
As the COVID-19 pandemic began to upend everyone’s lives early 2020, many companies offered support and assistance to essential health care workers; one was Mazda’s Essential Car Care Program. Now the automaker is expanding its program to another essential group: educators. The Essential Car Care Educators program provides teachers with free oil changes at participating dealers nationwide — you don’t even need to own a Mazda.

In addition to free oil changes, educators are eligible for free interior and exterior cleaning, and some dealerships are also providing free school supplies.
The program, which launched in select areas in July, is now available nationwide through Sept. 30. According to the automaker, most vehicles are eligible except exotic vehicles, classic cars, off-road vehicles and those that need more than 8 quarts of engine oil, special manufacturer requirements or other specialized tools or training.
The program is open to currently employed teachers, including professors, teaching assistants, teaching aids, administrators, coaches and support staff, such as custodians or bus drivers. Teachers can work in a public or private setting from pre-K schools through universities, and proof of employment is required.
“By partnering with our dealer network to provide vehicle maintenance, we hope to assist educators who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic as the new school year begins,” Jeff Guyton, Mazda North American Operations president and CEO, said in a statement.
