Hey, did you know there’s a big football game happening tonight? The Super Bowl? Well, the sports fans among us on Cars.com’s editorial staff are excited. So excited, in fact, that we decided to nominate vehicles to represent the two teams competing in Super Bowl 55 — the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — and compare them to predict which team will win the Vince Lombardi Trophy and be crowned champion of a bizarre, pandemic-plagued NFL season.
Think we’ve blown a gasket mixing football and cars? This ain’t the first time, pal.
To pick the cars, we went with geography as a determining factor and chose the vehicles built closest to each team’s home stadium. That means that the Chiefs will be represented by a 2021 Ford F-150, built at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant just across the Missouri River from Arrowhead Stadium. (That’s a smidge closer, in average driving distance both to and from the stadium, than GM’s Fairfax Assembly and Stamping Plant in Kansas City, Kan.) And we’ve specifically chosen the F-150’s range-topping trim, the Limited, with the optional PowerBoost hybrid powertrain, because the Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions and this part is completely arbitrary and we wanted to. So there.
