Much of what we’ve come to expect from Jaguar is present and accounted for in the 2013 XJ: Interior materials are subtly luxurious; handling is precise; and the brand’s reputation continues to be one of reliable unreliability. But Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays was disappointed to see the driving experience suffer somewhat with the pairing of a new eight-speed automatic transmission with the sedan’s also-new supercharged V-6; stubborn downshifting and accelerator lag had him missing last year’s six-speed. Read Mays’ review and decide whether you’d be better off waiting for the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
