Dealers Must Sign Up for Cash For Clunkers
We’ve been covering the Cash for Clunkers legislation as closely as possible, and one tidbit that hasn’t been noted is new-car dealers must register with the government to take part in the program. The proposed start date of CARS (Car Allowance Rebate System) is supposed to be July 1, but that date is not listed on the government website, www.cars.gov.
On that site it says that they’re moving as quickly as possible to register dealers. With thousands of new-car dealers in the U.S., it’s unknown how long that process will take.
