Europe Gets Cruze Hatchback; Should We Get It, Too?

The Chevrolet Cruze marks the return of a global small car for the Bowtie brand. The compact Chevy is already the brand’s top-selling model in the world, but satisfying all global tastes to the fullest extent requires more than just a basic four-door sedan, especially considering most Europeans favor hatchbacks. That’s where the Cruze hatchback comes into play.
We’ve seen this body style before as a concept, but Chevrolet is now ready to show off the production-ready garb next week at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show. The Cruze hatchback has about 14 cubic feet of cargo space — less than either the Mazda3 hatch or Ford Focus hatch — and standard 60/40-split folding rear seat.
The Cruze hatchback will be sold alongside the sedan throughout Europe starting midyear. As far as we know, there are no official plans to bring this Cruze variant here. If you’re dying to see this come to our side of the pond, make your voices heard in our poll below. Also check out more photos below.
