Fiat Reveals Specs for U.S. 500X

We first saw Fiat’s plumped-up version of the little 500X at last fall’s Paris Motor Show but U.S. specs were not released. The 2016 500X just made its official U.S. debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, complete with U.S. drivetrain information.

The compact SUV is based on the tiny Jeep Renegade and will compete in the budding micro-SUV class against the likes of the Chevrolet Trax, Mini Countryman and Nissan Juke. Pop, Easy, Lounge, Trekking (pictured above) and Trekking Plus models will be available; the latter two wear unique front- and rear-end designs for a more rugged look.
Two engines will be available in the states. Base models will use a 160-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Also available is the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder that makes 180 hp; it’s paired with a nine-speed automatic on all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive models.
There’s no word yet on pricing, but the 2016 Fiat 500X goes on sale early next year. Check out the gallery below.
