The 2012 Fiat 500 is one of the somewhat forgotten new models — probably because we’ve seen it on the auto-show circuit for the past year — and it’s finally going on sale in the next few weeks. However, when the 500 does hit dealerships it will only be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
There are three trim levels for the Fiat 500, the entry Pop, sportier Sport and top-of-the-line Lounge. The six-speed automatic is standard on the top of the line Lounge model starting at $19,500, which is $4,000 more than the base Pop. Pop and Sport models can add the automatic transmission for an additional $1,000.
The automatic models will arrive only a few weeks after the first limited editions are delivered to dealers, not months as originally noted.
