Ford is expanding the to include 2007-11 Ford Ranger pickup trucks for defective passenger-side airbag inflators.
The included the driver-side airbag inflators for approximately 37,000 2004-06 Ford Rangers, but this latest expansion includes passenger-side airbag inflators for these later models (approximately 320,000 were sold in the U.S.). The driver-side airbag inflators are not included in this expansion of model years.The last model year for the Ford Ranger was 2011, finishing a 14-year model run for the final generation. The Takata airbag inflator recall applies to more than half of those final-generation Ranger models. Ford will recall these pickups in batches according to humidity levels in geographic regions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration plans to expand the recall to eventually become national.
