Ford Explorer, Expedition Get Gussied Up for State Fair of Texas

Ford announced today a two-step of dolled-up 2019 Explorer and a do-si-do of 2019 Expedition special editions that it will show off at the State Fair of Texas opening today in Dallas. Why the Texas reveal? While the special editions will be on sale nationally later this year, Texas is truck country. It accounts for 1 in 4 of the Expedition full-size SUVs, according to Ford, and a big chunk of Explorer mid-size SUVs as well. Ford also claims the crown of best-selling brand in the Texas.

“Texans love their SUVs and these four special-edition models were created very much with them in mind,” said Craig Patterson, Ford’s large SUV marketing manager, in a statement.

2019 Expedition Stealth Edition

The model builds on the Limited trim level, adding 22-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, an adaptive suspension and a truckload of gloss-black trim, including the grille, mirror caps, roof rails, running boards, tailgate trim, a rear bumper skid plate and a hitch cover along with headlight, foglight and taillight trim. It also gets black badging, body-color door handles and red contrast stitching for the interior.

2019 Expedition Texas Edition

This model adds 22-inch wheels and Texas Edition badging to the Limited trim with the current Special Edition Package, which includes the Cargo Package, the Heavy-Duty Tow Package and Ford’s active park assist technology.

2019 Explorer Limited Luxury Edition

It offers appearance upgrades to the Limited trim level, including 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, chrome mirror caps, upgraded leather upholstery and steering wheel, leather door trim and multicontour seats that can vary the seat and back contours as well as offer a massage function.

2019 Explorer Desert Copper Edition

This dresses up the XLT trim level with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, chrome mirror caps, black leather first- and second-row seats with a black vinyl third row, and copper-color interior accents and stitching.
