GMC redesigned its Canyon pickup truck for 2023 with an eye toward increasing capability and modernizing technology: The brand gave the mid-size truck a total infotainment revamp and added a rugged AT4X variant. It turns out more capability is coming for 2024 with the arrival of the Canyon AT4X AEV.

Details are nonexistent, but based on what we know about the recently announced Sierra 2500 AT4X AEV heavy-duty pickup, the new Canyon will be an even more extreme off-roader than the AT4X.
On the larger Sierra, the AT4X AEV Edition comes with a 1.6-inch suspension lift, stamped steel bumpers with recovery points, 18-inch Salta wheels and front winch capability. It also adds steel skid plates to protect vulnerable areas from damage. In the above teaser pic GMC released today, the new Canyon AT4X AEV wears the winch as well as extra skid plates.
The current 2023 Canyon AT4X features a 30-inch off-road grille light bar, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels and a front skid plate. The model also comes standard with other off-road-oriented goodies, such as red tow hooks, a specific suspension, and electronic locking front and rear differentials. The AT4X also gets a 3-inch lift.
GMC said it will reveal the 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV July 6, so stay tuned for more details.
