The Honda Insight ends its six-year run in September, but will always retain the title of the first gas-electric hybrid sold in the U.S. Jim Mateja of the Chicago Tribune sings the praises of the Honda Insight as a landmark vehicle in automotive history. Sure, the Toyota Prius almost outsells the Insight’s total sales of six years, 13,484, in less than two months, but the Insight was the halo hybrid vehicle years before anyone learned to pronounce pree-us.
But Mateja drops some “insight” of his own (ouch that’s a bad pun), telling us that Honda is at work on a new hybrid-only model for the 2009 model year. This would be more in line with the Prius, and not Honda’s hybrid versions of existing models like the Civic and Accord.
