How Do Car Seats Fit in a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6?
The verdict: The all-electric 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the sedan sibling to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV, and although the Ioniq 6 has compact dimensions, its backseat is plenty roomy for two car seats. The sedan’s lower Latch anchors could be more accessible, however.
Does it fit three car seats? No.

Latch: Grade B
The lower anchors are not exposed, and the backseat’s firm upholstery means some muscle is required to connect to the anchors. The anchors are also set up against the seat bight, where the back and bottom cushions meet, so there’s not a lot of clearance for maneuvering to connect. The three top tether anchors on the rear shelf are easy to find and use.
Infant Seat: Grade B
It required a bit of maneuvering to install the infant seat due to the Latch anchor placement. The seat fit well once installed, however, and our 5-foot-6-inch front passenger had ample legroom in front of the car seat.
Rear-Facing Convertible: Grade B
As with the infant seat, we struggled a bit to connect to the lower anchors, but the seat fit well and did not impact front passenger legroom.
Forward-Facing Convertible: Grade B
Because of the sloping roofline, you have to fold the backseat to remove the head restraint in order to install this car seat. Once the head restraint was removed, we were able to situate the forward-facing convertible flush against the seatback. Again, we struggled a bit to connect to the lower anchors, but connecting to the top tether anchor was easy.
Booster Seat: Grade A
After removing the head restraint, the booster fit well. The sedan’s outboard buckles are on short, stable stalks, which should be easy for kids to grasp and use independently. However, the middle buckle is floppy and kids may have trouble with it.

For the Car Seat Check, we use a Chicco KeyFit 30 infant-safety seat, a Graco Contender 65 convertible seat and Graco TurboBooster seat. The front seats are adjusted for a 6-foot driver and a shorter passenger. The three child seats are installed in the second row. The booster seat sits behind the driver’s seat, and the infant and convertible seats are installed behind the front passenger seat.
We also install the forward-facing convertible in the second row’s middle seat with the booster and infant seat in the outboard seats to see if three car seats will fit; a child sitting in the booster seat must be able to reach the seat belt buckle. Parents should also remember that they can use the Latch system or a seat belt to install a car seat, and that Latch anchors have a weight limit of 65 pounds, including the weight of the child and the weight of the seat itself.
