CARS.COM — The title “Forced Induction” sounds like a cheap ’80s psychological thriller — but it’s actually something much cooler than that. The latest teaser video for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon sets out to remind viewers that it’s not just fuel and fire that put the muscle in muscle cars, “but how much cool air you can get in the engine.”
Released today, “Forced Induction” is the fifth in a series of video spots Dodge is dropping one by one ahead of the SRT Demon’s April unveiling at the 2017 New York International Auto Show. The automaker says the Demon boosts performance with “significantly increased airflow” while also dropping the inlet air temperature by more than 30 degrees compared with that of the Challenger Hellcat.
The Demon does this through a combination of what Dodge purports to be the largest functional “air grabber” cold-air intake hood ever installed on a production vehicle at more than 45 square inches; a larger air box sealed and ducted to the hood scoop; and a pair of illuminated functional “air catcher” headlamps.
We’ll be live on the floor of the New York show to be among the first to face the Demon. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the clues by watching the video below, along with the first four videos at www.ifyouknowyouknow.com. As you do, Dodge says, keep in mind that “nothing is a coincidence and everything means something.”
