The 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will start at $26,810 for the base model and $31,560 for the Sonata Hybrid Limited, both including an $810 destination charge. Prices are only up slightly compared to the 2013 model, but the 2014 version adds more standard features.

2014 Hyundai Sonata: What’s Changed

Both versions of the Sonata Hybrid use last year’s 35-kilowatt electric motor and 47-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack, powering a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that’s good for 199 horsepower and an electric-only top speed of 74 mph; the engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid drivetrain uses all-electric mode during less strenuous driving and the gas engine for startup and more demanding conditions, enabling an EPA-estimated 36/40 mpg city/highway for both models, unchanged from the 2013 version.

The body of the 2014 version also carries over unchanged. New standard equipment includes LED interior dome lights and a backup camera. Other standard equipment on the base model includes active front head restraints, 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED-accented headlights, LED taillights, front fog lights, side-mirror-mounted turn signals, a tinted chrome front grille, chrome exterior door handles, proximity entry with push-button start, remote keyless entry, heated front seats, leatherette interior door panel inserts, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and a touch-screen multimedia display with Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system.

The Limited model adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a navigation system with a high-resolution 7-inch touch-screen, an Infinity premium stereo system, leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a power driver’s seat with lumbar support. For $1,000, the Panoramic Sunroof Package adds a panoramic sunroof and glossy-black door surrounds and side mirror housings.

Hyundai said the Sonata Hybrid is expected to reach dealer lots this week. The 2014 model’s $26,810 starting price is a $365 increase from its predecessor, while the Limited trim is $215 more. The regular 2014 Sonata already is on sale for a starting price of $22,260 for GLS models, with Limited 2.0T models topping out at $29,360 (all prices include an $810 destination charge).
