Jeep Gladiator Concept Helps You Get Outta Dodge ... Farout, Man
We can’t blame you if — for whatever reason, really — you’ve wanted to just head off into the wilderness and ignore the state of the world (we sure have!), but did you know that some people do this recreationally, with vehicles? It’s called overlanding, and Jeep just unveiled the Gladiator Farout Concept, an overlanding-focused, blue-sky version of its Gladiator pickup truck designed to let you wander into the wild.

The Farout uses an EcoDiesel-powered Gladiator as its base, chosen for the diesel’s much greater fuel economy and range, which will really allow you to get as far away from it all as possible. Since “wilderness” and “roads” aren’t compatible concepts, the Farout also incorporates a Jeep Performance Parts 2-inch lift kit, 37-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch wheels, Fox-brand performance shocks and custom rock rails to help the Gladiator travel over almost any obstacle. In case any of those obstacles wins, there’s a custom steel bumper with a 12,000-pound winch from off-road-equipment manufacturer Warn to help pull the Farout out of trouble.
Overlanding is also about spending a lot of time out in the wild, so the Farout has a comfortable interior with lots of wood detailing as well as a table and seating, refrigerator, stove, interior storage racks and a collapsible roof-mounted tent that can sleep four. There’s additional space on the integrated roof rack for even more gear.

For added custom looks, Jeep went with a new “Earl” gray (get it!?) exterior paint color with chartreuse accents on the hood, rear tow hooks, springs and shocks, as well as charcoal-gray wheels.
While the Farout remains a concept, it does demonstrate the possibilities of what owners can turn their Gladiators into if they so desire.
