Land Rover is planning to debut a new concept with a very storied name at the New York International Auto Show, but the concept doesn’t just preview one new Land Rover SUV, rather it marks a whole new sub-brand for the automaker. Land Rover says the Discovery Vision Concept “will showcase the design and technology vision for a future new family of Discovery vehicles.”
The first-generation of the Discovery was introduced in England 25 years ago and was eventually known in the U.S. as the LR4. Based on the dark teaser video above, the Discovery Vision Concept appears to be LR4-sized and offer configurable seating for seven, hinting at that model’s eventual replacement.
Check out the teaser video for more details and check back with us in mid-April for more Land Rover news from the 2014 New York Auto Show.
