CARS.COM — Ford’s redesigned F-250 Super Duty pickup truck is packed with as much technology as any car or SUV, with available features like adaptive cruise control and Ford’s Sync 3 multimedia system. But if you’re looking for something a little more simple and straightforward to get the job done, we suggest this 1976 Ford F-250 Custom.
Claimed to be from the Dakotas but now in Virginia, Cars.com seller Erik says this regular-cab truck has minimal rust and that there are a little more than 84,000 miles on the odometer. He describes the truck as “well-preserved” but with some imperfections, which seems like an accurate description to us.
The paint and interior — which still has its original AM radio — appear to be in good shape, but you can tell from the scrapes in the cargo box that this truck has been used for work. I think I prefer it this way to a pristine cargo box, however, since it seems completely natural for a 41-year-old truck.
The asking price is $7,900, and recently added parts include a rebuilt carburetor, new gas tank, new exhaust piping and muffler, new tires and new spark plugs and wires for the 5.9-liter V-8 engine.
What do you think: Is it worth that much for a trip back in time, or is the price too rich for a humble truck like this? Let us know in the comments section below, and be sure to check out PickupTrucks.com later this month for our 2017 Work Truck Challenge, which includes tests of the 2017 F-250 Super Duty.
Editor’s note: We have not examined this vehicle or reviewed its maintenance records. All claims are made by the seller. Cars.com has more than 1.7 million used cars for sale.
