March's Fastest- and Slowest-Selling Cars
It was hard to find a trend in March’s car sales when looking at total vehicles sold. Instead, scrutinizing the types of cars quickly snapped up might be a better gauge of what folks really want in their driveways.

SUVs and pickup trucks have dominated our Fastest-Selling Lists recently, but in March 19 of the 21 cars that sold the fastest were one of those body styles. The all-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza — and somewhat shockingly — restyled Acura ILX sedan were the other two.
Small SUVs were also big with Jeep’s all-new Renegade generating a buzz as the speediest seller, taking just five days to find keys in a buyer’s hand. Small SUVs from Porsche, Audi, Subaru and Mazda also sold quickly.
What cars fell out of favor?
As we’ve seen recently, Nissan’s GT-R sports car just isn’t as appealing on the showroom floor as it is in enthusiasts’ hearts, taking nearly six months to sell.
Kia also earns a special shame award with four of the slowest-selling cars in the country. The Rio duo is getting refreshed for 2016, but the all-new flagship K900 doesn’t have that excuse. The big sedan market is slowing, and it doesn’t seem like there’s room for another one.
Hyundai’s redesigned Genesis in comparison sold in 45 days, which is just under March’s average of 50 days to sell new cars. That’s also a tick better than March 2014’s mark of 51 days, but up from February’s 47-day mark.

About the Lists
The Fastest- and Slowest-Selling Cars list reports the average number of days it takes to sell models from the day they arrive on the lot until the final paperwork is signed by a buyer. This is not a days-of-inventory list like you may find on other websites. With lots mostly clear of 2014 models, we look exclusively at 2015s and 2016s.
For the fastest sellers, we only list vehicles that pass a certain threshold of sales in order to weed out limited editions, ultra-high-performance cars and others that might skew the numbers or otherwise inaccurately portray popularity. To highlight all slow sellers, slowest sellers have no such threshold.
Our Picks highlight cars that take a significant time before they’re sold and might be overlooked by shoppers. Dealers could be more motivated to sell these cars.
