CARS.COM — Mini takes a defiant tone with its “Defy Labels” commercial for the 2016 Mini Clubman, set to air Sunday during Super Bowl 50. The 30-second TV spot features a host of sports and entertainment industry luminaries such as tennis champ Serena Williams, musician T-Pain, retired soccer star Abby Wambach and skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk, all facetiously applying labels to the Clubman that in one way or another relate to their own struggles with other people’s perceptions of them.
A string of ironic assertions such as “This is a chick car” and “This car has no street cred” culminate with Mr. White himself, actor Harvey Keitel playing on his own tough-guy image as he assures the viewer: “This car doesn’t care what you call it.” Mini’s “Defy Labels” ad will air during the third quarter of the big game; watch it here.
