Mitsubishi Announces Updates to 2026 Lineup
Mitsubishi has announced changes to its 2026 model-year lineup, which includes updates to the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid, a new hybrid powertrain for the Outlander and minor changes to the Eclipse Cross.

With these changes, Mitsubishi continues to work toward its North American business plan, Momentum 2030, which has the goal of releasing a new or redesigned vehicle every year until 2030. Pricing and specs for each vehicle will be announced closer to their respective launch dates.
What’s New With the 2026 Outlander?
For 2026, the Outlander will be equipped with a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is shared with the Eclipse Cross and paired with a mild-hybrid system. This will replace the 2.5-liter engine that is currently in the Outlander and will deliver increased acceleration thanks to extra torque gained from the electric addition. Lastly, the Outlander Sport will carry over from 2025 into 2026 with minimal changes.
The Outlander will also be given two new trims for 2026: the LE, which will slot between the entry-level ES and SE trims, and a top-line SEL Black Edition. It will also see the return of the performance-oriented Ralliart model.
2026 Outlander PHEV Updates
The 2026 Outlander PHEV is receiving a mid-cycle refresh that debuted on the gas-only model in 2025. The three-row SUV receives improved sound deadening, new materials and colors, heated and cooled front seats, a redesigned center console, new cupholders and a redesigned phone charger. Changes have also been made to the exterior styling, with a redesigned front bumper, new 20-inch wheels and smoked rear taillights.
Under the hood, the Outlander has been given a larger-capacity drive battery, which increases the all-electric range and decreases how long the internal-combustion engine runs. The Outlander PHEV also received tuning to the dampers, springs and stabilizer bars, improving the overall driving feel.
Eclipse Cross Updates
Minor changes have been made to the 2026 Eclipse Cross. Embedded navigation has been removed, and Eclipse Cross badging has been added to the SEL and SEL Touring trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will remain standard on all Eclipse Cross trims.
