We’ll have to wait until the Detroit auto show this January to get full details on the next member of the Toyota Prius “family.” Executive Don Esmond made the announcement earlier today, and it was later posted on Toyota’s official Twitter account. It will be “an all-new model w/more comfort, style and versatility.”

We recently posted an image of a Toyota billboard alluding to a future Prius MPV. We’re a little surprised the company wouldn’t unveil it at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November because it is typically a hybrid-friendly show with more green reporting. However, Toyota revealed the latest-generation Prius hatchback at the Detroit show in 2009 as well.
