The affected vehicles were built from April 19, 2006, through July 7, 2008. (You can check your vehicle’s build date on a sticker on the driver-side doorjamb.) The front passenger seat’s occupant classification system needs to be recalibrated to detect smaller adults. Improper classification could cause the airbag not to deploy in an accident. This could lead to an increased risk of injury.

Hyundai will notify owners soon, and dealers will update the software free of charge. Owners can call Hyundai at 800-633-5151 or NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 for more info.
