Vehicles Affected: Approximately 112,000 model-year 2009 Dodge Journey SUVS, model-year 2008-09 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans and the related model-year 2009 Volkswagen Routan minivans.
The Problem: In the affected vehicles, occupant restraint controller components exposed to moisture could cause inadvertent airbag deployment or warning-light illumination. This is unrelated to the ongoing Takata airbag recall.
In a statement, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said warning-light illumination is the more likely outcome, though the automaker is aware of seven potentially related minor injuries but no accidents.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the affected parts for free.
What Owners Should Do: FCA has not yet released an owner notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 for more info.
