Vehicles Affected: Approximately 800 model-year 2009-13 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs equipped with manual transmissions
The Problem: The gear shift rear shaft on these vehicles may break, preventing the gears from being able to be changed and increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the gear shift rear shaft for free.
What Owners Should Do: Suzuki will begin notifying owners March 1. Owners can call the automaker at 800-934-0934, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
