Vehicles Affected: Nearly 1,400 model-year 2014-15 Porsche 911, Boxter and Cayman sports cars

The Problem: The lock bracket on the front hood may not meet the automaker’s own quality standards throughout the vehicle’s life cycle and could result in unintentional opening of the front hood. In its voluntary-recall announcement, Porsche said it discovered the issue during internal quality inspection procedures and immediately corrected the problem in production. No related accidents, injuries or unintentional hood-opening incidents have occurred, the automaker said.

The Fix: Porsche will notify owners of affected vehicles within 60 days to schedule an appointment as soon as possible with a dealer, who will replace the lock bracket on the front hood for free.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Porsche at 800-767-7243 for more info.
