Recall Alert: 2014 Buick Regal, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro and Impala

Vehicles Affected: More than 100 model-year 2014 Buick Regal sedans and Cadillac XTS cars, and Chevrolet Camaro sports cars and Impala sedans

The Problem: Improperly torqued fasteners may cause the steering intermediate shaft and steering gear, or lower control arm and the lower ball joint, to separate; this could cause a steering loss, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: GM began notifying owners on June 27, and dealers will inspect fasteners for correct torque, correcting them as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Buick at 800-521-7300, Cadillac at 800-458-8006 and Chevrolet at 800-222-1020. They can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Association’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.
