Saabs United raised enough money to purchase the last 9-3 sedan ever built: a 9-3 Aero Griffin in Arctic White. The vehicle was taken off the production line in February, and the group raised enough funds through its website to purchase the 9-3 and donate it to the Saab museum in Trollhattan, Sweden.
According to the group, the cost of this specific model was $48,672, and the group’s members raised extra funds to support the museum. The names of more than 450 people who chipped in for the 9-3 are listed on the group’s site.
“We set out to do something that has never been done by any enthusiast group for any auto-brand in the world. We, the fans set out on a mission to buy a car, and not just any car, we set out to buy the last of a production series, the last Saab 9-3 Griffin,” the group said on its website.
