Sip City? Redesigned Toyota Prius to Make Las Vegas Debut

In a city known for decadence, excess and conspicuous consumption, an icon of efficiency and economy will be reintroduced to the nation. On Sept. 8 at a media event in Las Vegas, Toyota will unveil its redesigned Prius, the first major overhaul of the popular, pioneering hybrid in seven years.

That’s according to a report by the Detroit Free Press, which noted that a spokesman for the Japanese automaker confirmed the debut with no further details on styling or fuel economy. A Prius redesign is either unfortunately or perfectly timed, depending on how one looks at it. A prolonged period of cheap gas in the U.S. has resulted in a resurgence of SUV and pickup truck sales while simultaneously siphoning off hybrid sales.
