The 2019 GMC Canyon mid-size pickup truck has a can-do attitude when it comes to fitting kids' car seats. We installed three types of car seats — infant seat, booster seat, and a convertible seat in rear- and forward-facing modes — into a 2019 GMC Canyon Denali crew cab.

Like many of its competitors, the Canyon has a less-than-ideal top tether anchor setup. The tether anchors sit behind the rear seats and are difficult to use as well as easy to forget about since they're out of sight. The good news is the Canyon crew cab has a spilt backseat that makes it a little easier to access the tether anchor, since you only have to fold a portion of the rear seatback when installing a forward-facing convertible seat.

We had to use some muscle to connect our infant car seat's hooklike connectors to the Canyon's lower Latch anchors. We also had to move the front passenger seat forward about an inch to accommodate the car seat. The rear-facing convertible installed easily, and the high-back booster seat fit well in the Canyon. A floppy seat belt buckle could make it hard for little ones to buckle up on their own, however.
