Subaru Announces Prices for Updated 2017 Outback, Legacy

CARS.COM — Earlier this month, Subaru announced updates for its popular Legacy sedan and Outback wagon. Today, the automaker revealed pricing for the new models, and both will cost a bit more.

The 2017 Legacy starts at $22,815, up from last year’s $22,540 base price. The 2017 Outback’s base price is $26,520, up from model-year 2016’s $25,845 starting sticker. All prices include destination.

Both models are again available with four- or six-cylinder engines and feature standard all-wheel drive. Changes for the Outback include a new top-of-the-line Touring model to the lineup featuring standard automatic braking in Reverse and automatic high-beam headlights. A Sport trim with specific exterior and interior styling details is new for the Legacy sedan.

The Legacy in 2.5i Premium trim adds upgrades like a 7-inch touch-screen, Bluetooth hands-free SMS text messaging, dual USB ports, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer, dual-zone automatic climate control system, 10-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle, electroluminescent instrument panel with LCD color display, auto up/down front windows, illuminated overhead console, front-door pull handles and body-color side mirrors. It starts at $24,815.

The 2.5i Sport Legacy adds a trim-specific two-tone interior with piano black and carbon fiber pattern, 18-inch sport-styled wheels, dark gray front grille and fog lights with gloss black housing. It starts at $26,815.

The top 2.5i Limited trim starts at $29,660 and adds perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, a power moonroof, keyless access with push-button start, heated rear seats, rear-seat air conditioner outlets, four-way power front passenger seat, a Harman Kardon surround 12-speaker audio system, 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, turn-signal side mirrors, woodgrain-pattern matte-finish interior accent trim and Stablex suspension tuning. The six-cylinder-powered 3.6R Limited model starts at $32,460.

Standards on base Outback 2.5i models include a 6.2-inch touch-screen multimedia system, rearview camera, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, a USB port and auxiliary input jack.

The 2.5i Premium trim starts at $28,570 and adds heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle, electroluminescent instrument panel with LCD color display, auto up/down front windows, illuminated overhead console, front-door pull handles and body-color side mirrors.

The 2.5i Limited model starts at $33,265 and adds perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, heated rear seats, rear-seat air conditioner outlets, four-way power front passenger seat, a Harman Kardon surround audio system, 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, turn-signal side mirrors and woodgrain-pattern matte-finish interior accent trim. Six-cylinder Limited models start at $35,870.

Outside, the new Outback 2.5i Touring model gets a dark gray grille insert, 18-inch wheels with dark gray accents and machined finish, low-profile roof rails in a silver finish and lower body cladding in chrome. Inside, the Touring’s interior is finished in Java Brown leather-trimmed upholstery, door panels and armrests with contrasting ivory stitching. It also wears a woodgrain interior finish and piano-black switch panels; a heated steering wheel is standard. Four-cylinder Touring models start at $36,870, six-cylinder models at $39,070.

The 2017 Subaru Outback and Legacy will go on sale in July.
