The auto enthusiast community has heard whispers of a high-end, high-performance Buick LaCrosse with a V-8 engine and other performance upgrades for some time. Today, GM representatives made the addition of a “Super” trim level to the Buick line official. Last used in the 1950s, Buick brought the Super designation out of the history books for the purpose of reinvigorating the brand.
GM also said Buick will continue to put out fewer, but more exclusive, models from here on out. Both the LaCrosse and Lucerne will get Super trims, but there was no word on whether the yet to be released Enclave crossover will also benefit from the program, which would make it the first of GM’s new line of crossovers to get a V-8 engine.
A revised LaCrosse will debut later this month in advance of the New York Auto Show, but will it debut with its Super siblings?
