Along with its Camry sedan and SUVs from luxury-arm Lexus, Toyota is recalling approximately 106,000 examples of its Tacoma pickup truck, specifically ones with four-wheel drive.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-25 Tacomas equipped with 4WD, 16-inch brakes and 17-inch wheels. A buildup of mud and dirt inside the rear wheels (potentially from off-roading) may cause the rear brake hoses to become damaged over time, resulting in leaking brake fluid and increasing the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, dealers will replace both rear brake hoses with improved ones for free. Toyota will notify owners by early April, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-331-4331, visit Toyota.com/recall, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
